these were built to combat the jap air raids, in normal government fashion they were completed just in time for the end of the war.

note the capacity, that is 38475 mill lts HUGE!!!!

THERE ARE TWO OF THE TUNNELS OPEN NOW, OTHER ONE IS MUCH SMALLER , ONLY 17XXX MILL LTS. THEY WERE ACTUALLY USED IN THE EARLY FIFTIES, TO STORE  AIRCRAFT FUEL(KEROSENE) FOR A PRIVATE CONTRACTOR.

DARWIN WAVE POOL

DARWIN CALM POOL, THEY RUN THE WAVES FOR 20MINS THEN STOP FOR 10MINS, FROM MEMORY IT COSTS $5 FOR A HALF DAY.

Darwin festival was on all over town, hence the artist sign, there was a amphitheatre type thing set up in one corner of gardens.

THE WESLEY CHURCH, THIS IS ONE OF THE BUILDINGS IN DARWIN THAT SURVIVED TRACY, IT WAS DONATED BY PARISHONERS IN S.A.(?) AND SHIPPED AND ASSEMBLED IN DARWIN. IT NOW STANDS IN THE BOTANIC GARDENS AFTER BEING MOVED FROM THE CBD.


Casuarine beach, not sure about the wheel tracks, dont think there is vehicle access?
