the old durack homestead, picked up brick by brick and reassembled before they flooded the original site to form lake argyle, old man durack was the inspiration behind the ord river scheme, no doubt he picked up a couple of bob from the sale of the property that is now at the bottom of the lake???

inside the homestead, a lot of the stuff inside isnt from original homestead, just pieces from that era.

the old souther cross windmill, not to many of these around today.

the infinity pool at lake argyle resort, too bloody dear to stay here, we just had a look on the way to joining the cruise back to kununurra, and this looks out over.....

lake durack, no it isnt, its lake argyle! no wonder they are worth a bloody motza!!!

the dam wall. the concrete "box" in the water is 18 stories tall. the centre of dam is clay, with lots of tons of rock packed around it, sensors set into the dam measure moisture and movement of the clay, in first 12 months, the far end of the wall as you are looking at it, dropped 30cm and hasnt moved since.

freshies on the cruise, obviously the top one is female! bottom one has its mouth shut!

stopped here for smoko on the way down river, locals actually refer to this as lake kununurra not the ord river, they reckon if you have a dam at each end its a lake, not a river. not sure you find lake kununurra on a map tho??

reflections on a great cruise???
and, what better photo to end and have another red???
